Detect unconscious bias when you programme
DATE:

Let’s face it: we all have them. However, we can still eliminate them, overcome them or control them. In recognition of the various ways in which unconscious bias manifests itself within the film industry, this workshop seeks to provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to minimize the impact of unconscious bias in their work within a festival programme. Using real-life examples, the course aims to ensure that all participants leave with the practical tools needed to reduce the effects of personal and organizational unconscious bias.
At the end of the session, the participants will be able to:
· Explain the concept of unconscious bias and its impact on behavior and decision-making at work, creative commissions, networks and contacts.
· Understand the two-way relationship between unconscious bias and the media.
· Understand the relationship between implicit association, unconscious bias, language, stereotypes, attitudes and behavior.
· Address micro-messages stemming from unconscious biases.
With this session, aimed mainly at people within the organization involved in the process of programming and choice of content, we will question ourselves and take the opportunity to begin raising awareness of our prejudices and working to eliminate them.
